Last season, the Philadelphia Eagles meetings with the New England Patriots were ones to forget. New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady tore up the Eagles defense, which was unimpressive at best. With offseason changes and the addition of many key players ready to make an impact now, the Philadelphia Eagles were determined to show Brady they had improved.
And they did. After Tom Brady spoke to media members on Wednesday, the message couldn’t be clearer: the Philadelphia Eagles defense has improved from last season.
Here is what Tom Brady had to say about the Eagles defense he was up against:
It’s great to get work in against a playoff caliber team. I think that’s what it’s been. I think competition has been at its best, and I think it brings out the best in all of us.”
It is hard for fans to think that Brady felt the same way about the Eagles last season when he picked apart the defense on almost every play. This year, Billy Davis‘s unit has shown that the Eagles defense is no longer the weakness it once was.
Here is what Billy Davis had to say about the Eagles’ performance:
“Guys are more comfortable in the scheme, and we have more scheme. Guys aren’t worried about their assignment. They are playing with leverage and playing a lot faster.”
It is evident the the Eagles defense is finally making strides towards making the Philadelphia Eagles a contender this season. With a top-notch offense and an improved defense, it is difficult to see any team stopping the Eagles this year.
