Who will make the Philadelphia Eagles roster for the 2014 NFL season?
Back in mid-May, I made my first attempt to predict the final Philadelphia Eagles roster for the 2014 season. You can view that prediction by clicking here. Three months later, I’m glad to say that the vast majority of my picks remains the same. I’m not happy because I was right – or I will be proven right by Saturday evening – but because this means most of those on the Eagles roster who were expected to perform well, did so.
However, some things changed on the course of preseason. Lane Johnson’s suspension, Keelan Johnson’s arrest, training camp, preseason games – all factored in shaping the current Eagles roster (which has 75 players) and will decide the final selection. Here is my prediction, less than 72 hours from the final cuts.
Nick Foles is the starter for the Eagles. Mark Sanchez looks like a player reborn in Chip Kelly’s offense and his preseason performance guarantees him the backup job. Matt Barkley had some ups and dowsn, but he has looked better than a year ago and will probably be the third-string quarterback for the second straight season.
