On Thursday, hours before their final preseason game for 2014, I posted a prediction of the Philadelphia Eagles 53-man roster. You can find it here. The Eagles then went on to rout the New York Jets 37-7 on Thursday evening and the team spent Friday and Saturday making the final cuts. Yesterday, the Eagles final, 53-man roster was announced.

Right below, you will find the players that made the cut. In brackets, you can see how many prediction I got right.

Quarterbacks: Nick Foles, Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley (3 of 3)

Nor suprises here. Foles is the starter, Sanchez the backup and Barkley the third-stringer.

Running Backs: LeSean McCoy, Darren Sproles, Chris Polk (3 of 3)

I thought the Eagles would keep four running backs, with Polk battling injuries. Yet, the Birds decided to go forward with three, with Polk backing up McCoy and Sproles.

Wide Receivers: Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper, Jordan Matthews, Josh Huff, Brad Smith, Jeff Maehl (5 of 6)

The Eagles decided to keep six wideouts, with Jeff Maehl occupying the last spot. Cooper, Maclin, Matthews and Huff were locks, while Brad Smith had a very good preseason and was expected to make the team.

Tight Ends: Brent Celek, Zach Ertz, James Casey, Trey Burton (3 of 4)

Big surprise here, as the Eagles carry four tight ends. Trey Burton had an excellent showing against the Jets and the coaching staff decided to use a roster spot on him.
