Saturday, the Philadelphia Eagles cut Matthew Tucker the star running back of the preseason. And kept an injured running back Chris Polk. He’s battled a nagging hamstring injury for most of the preseason which limited his play time so far. He played in 15 games last season, carried the ball 11 times for 93 yards with 3 touchdowns. But the story doesn’t end there. Yesterday, Tucker was added to the Eagles practice squad so his NFL story doesn’t end yet.
I understood the position Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly was in Saturday. But cutting Tucker and keeping Polk did not make sense to me. Tucker had a stellar preseason rushing for 4 touchdowns making him the leagues leading scoring rusher this preseason. My guess he will be called up early this season. Polk’s hamstring injury will not go away quickly or quietly.
