Bacon, Eggs and Eagles – Is Chip Kelly Racist?

facebooktwitterreddit

Here we go again, former Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy is still bitter about being traded by head coach Chip Kelly. So what does he do? Claim that he’s racist, of course. It’s clear that Kelly isn’t racist but many reporters and writers felt it was necessary to address the “elephant in the room” that is McCoy‘s claim. There were also some that decided to still write about Eagles’ football, which is all anyone wants to really know about. But there’s all of that and more in this morning’s serving of Bacon, Eggs and Eagles!

LeSean McCoy basically calls Chip Kelly a racistJimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com

"Oh boy. Back in March, media buffoon Stephen A. Smith implied that Chip Kelly is a racist because Chip Kelly cut DeSean Jackson, traded LeSean McCoy, and allowed Jeremy Maclin to leave via free agency, while keeping Riley Cooper on the roster.Later, after former Eagles assistant coach Tra Thomas was fired, he said that players felt that there was a hint of racism within the Eagles’ organization."

Message received: Do not mess with Chip KellyJohn Gonzalez of CSNPhilly.com

"It’s been clear for a while now: Chip Kelly is in control. He’s the boss. If anyone in the NovaCare Complex was unclear on that point, Kelly recently reminded everyone who’s in charge and what that means. After the draft, Kelly addressed the media. He seemed pleased. He trumpeted each of his picks. You wouldn’t expect anything else. To hear him tell it, it was all a product of the now-streamlined interaction between the coaching staff and the player personnel department. That last group is under the supervision of newly-installed Ed Marynowitz, a man selected by Kelly for various reasons, not the least of which is that he’s not Howie Roseman."

News, Notes And Things I ThinkDave Spadaro of PhiladelphiaEagles.com

"What’s next for the Eagles with the draft in the rear-view mirror? The beat goes on with Phase 2 of the offseason program here as the players take to the field and continue the conditioning preparation for 2015.“It’s good to get back out on the field and get after it,” wide receiver Josh Huff said. “I feel like it’s been a long time since we were together. It’s good to see all the guys and start back up for this year. I think everybody is pretty excited about what’s going on.”The locker room has changed significantly with so many moves in the offseason, so this is a time for the players to get to know each other. In some cases, it takes almost no time at all."

A look back at Eagles’ secondary drafting ineptitude since 2003Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com

"When Chip Kelly stood at the podium in the NovaCare Complex on Saturday and talked about the dearth of quality young defensive backs the Eagles have drafted over the last decade or so, he was being kind. The reality is even worse than Kelly indicated. From 2003 through 2014, a 12-year span, the Eagles drafted 20 defensive backs.Only one of the 20 became a regular starter for the Eagles. That was Nate Allen."

How Nelson Agholor Makes Eagles Offense Even Tougher to StopCian Fahey of BleacherReport.com

"Regardless of what happens from here, the Philadelphia Eagles are always going to remember the 2015 NFL draft. It was Chip Kelly’s first draft with complete control. Control that he appeared to make every attempt to exercise in a trade up for the second overall pick. That second overall pick would have been invested in his former quarterback at the college level, Marcus Mariota.Kelly’s failure to acquire Mariota has left him with Sam Bradford as his starting quarterback, while the ex-Oregon passer is now the franchise quarterback of the Tennessee Titans."

Once again, Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com kills it with this gem of a tweet regarding the claims that Chip Kelly is a racist. Ha!
