The Eagles are having success across the board.

Philadelphia is going into Week 5 in the NFL with a new coach, a new quarterback and a 3-0 record. No one thought that was possible for this Eagles team but, surprisingly, the team is performing like a well-oiled machine. Their rookie quarterback Carson Wentz has been performing as if he’s been in the league for years. Wentz has gone his first three NFL games without an interception and the Eagles defense has only allowed a total of 27 points in those three games while scoring almost 100 points on offense.

If this season keeps going up roses for the Eagles, they’ll be one of the best teams the City of Brotherly Love has seen in a while.

Eagles’ Bright Star

NFL rookies usually struggle their first year. Not because he’s a poor quarterback. It’s because as a rookie, he’s not expected to be used to the NFL. Other rookies have struggled to adjust and work within the system that is a huge change from the collegiate way of play. It’s something that is a given and for teams like the Los Angeles Rams, they haven’t seen that their newbies can do.

Wentz has been playing phenomenal football, racking up 769 points five touchdowns and zero interceptions. He has a strong arm and excellent vision. Wentz is confident in the pocket and someone who can control the offense like a veteran. He’s making waves both on the field and among veterans in the game.

According to NJ.com, former Eagles head coach Dick Vermeil sees Wentz’s rise as a sign of the team’s success.

"He appears to have those attributes: poise, confidence, toughness. There are certain people who, when they get in a game, it slows down for them, and there are certain people who, when they get in a game, the game gets faster. Carson Wentz, the game slows down forhim.”"

Eagles Keep Rolling Down the Road

A vote of conference will be shown as the rookie sensation comes back from the team’s early bye week. Week 5 against the Detroit Lions will be another test for Wentz and Doug Pederson. Yet it won’t be one that is difficult. Pederson has exploited the strengths of the Eagles’ offense. Wide receivers like Jordan Matthews have automatically clicked with Wentz. Their duo is helping to create a team that can go up against any pass rush, including the Detroit’s. They have a familiar face on their staff, former Detroit Head Coach Jim Schwartz. Now the team’s defensive coordinator, he’s found a way to boost the Eagles’ secondary.

Pederson is also a breath of fresh air for the team and part of their success. He’s had to work with a team that struggled to find their identity under former head coach Chip Kelly. Now they’re 3-0 under Pederson who is working with a rookie quarterback. He’s had to rebuild a way to bring Philadelphia a team that  is showing they’re a force to reckon with in the NFC East. It will be important to win against the Lions to be one of the sole undefeated teams in the league. There will be divisional games down the road but starting off with a potential 4-0 shows the Eagles on the road to success.
