Mikell: Steve Spagnuolo Wanted Philly, But Did Eagles Want Him?

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles | COMMENTS: None Yet

Last month, former Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo accepted a job with the New Orleans Saints to become their new defensive coordinator. Much was made of the decision, and the story generally wgoes that Spagnuolo wanted a change of scenery and the opportuntiy to work alongside Sean Payton’s high-powered offense in order to parlay probably success into another head coaching gig. Conventional wisdom suggests the Saints will be slightly better position to make a Super Bowl in in 2012 than the Eagles (despite Trent Cole’s recent insistence to the contrary). But now comes this little tidbit from former Eagles safety [...]

Michael Vick Edges Tiger Woods as America’s Most Disliked Athlete

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well, at least an Eagle has won something. Forbes Magazine has released the results of poll that have found Michael Vick to be the most disliked professional athlete. While Vick has moved on from his past legal troubles to regain his status as one the league’s premiere players and one Philadelphia’s most popular athletes, his public rehabilitation apparently hasn’t resinated with the rest of America. Vick and Tiger Woods actually were tied on the list at 60 percent disliked, but the Eagles quarterback edged out golf’s most recognizable name because he received more “dislike a lot” votes. Also making the [...]

Eagles Mock Draft Profile: WR Mohamed Sanu

AUTHOR: | IN: Draft, Eagles | COMMENTS: None Yet

Yesterday, we took a look at some potential rookies who could step in and replace DeSean Jackson should the two sides fail to agree on a new deal (or the franchise tag isn’t applied). But there’s one guy on that list we probably should have included–Rutgers WR Mohamed Sanu. Sanu is only 6-2, 215-pounds, but is a physical receiver that can stretch the field and go the distance every time he touches the ball. He would provide an excellent compliment to Jeremy Maclin and create matchup nightmares for opposing secondaries. Sanu leaves Rutgers after three seasons at Rutgers where he [...]

Pro Bowler LeSean McCoy Takes in Sixers Game With Sweet Puffy Jacket

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles | COMMENTS: None Yet

Eagles Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy was hanging at the Wells Fargo Center last night as he watched the 76ers shake off Kobe Bryant’s insane first half for a 95-90 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. McCoy even did a quick interview with Matt Cord of Sixers.com. You can check out the interview here. For me, the highlight was his puffy black jacket. Cat looks fresh to death at all times. In lesser news, former Phillies legend Raul Ibanez was also in attendance. Kobe Bryant also reached some special scoring milestone, passing former teammate Shaquille O’ Neal for fifth [...]

If Jackson Walks, Eagles Will Look to Draft for Replacement

AUTHOR: | IN: Draft | COMMENTS: None Yet

Editor’s note: Staff writer Steve Fini checks in with a look at what the Eagles might do to replace the potentially departing DeSean Jackson. The Eagles will have a gaping hole at wide receiver in 2012 if they decide to let DeSean Jackson walk come March. This will be a hole they must fill. While potential free agents Dwayne Bowe and Vincent Jackson present possible targets, it’s more likely the team will address this need through the draft. Upgrading internally is not an option if this team wants to make a legitimate run at a Super Bowl in 2012. And [...]

Oddsmakers Like the Eagles in 2012–For Some Reason

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Entertainment | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’m not sure I can explain what I’m about to write, but the Philadelphia Eagles are among the favorites to win the NFC in 2012. Ahead of the Eagles (12-1) in the NFC are the Packers (5-1) and the Saints (6-1). That means the Eagles have been given considerably better odds than the New York Giants (20-1), a team that Vegas must feel is extremely unlikely to replicate their 2011 run. I’m not sure what exactly the rationale is for that, but I’ll take it. Check out the full list of odds here.

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, Offseason | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Super Bowl is over and now out attention turns toward the offseason schedule. The Philadelpihia Eagles have some work to do if they plan to catch the Super Bowl Champion (ugh) New York Giants, so here is a list of important dates to mark on your offseason calendar. February 20: Franchise Tag can be applied. Starting on the 20th of February, NFL teams can apply the franchise tag to any big name free agents they want to secure for next season. For the Eagles, the only player who may receive the tag would be WR DeSean Jackson. But don’t [...]

Super Bowl Finish, Much Like Eagles’ Season Anything But a Dream

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

You know when you wake up in the middle of the night and realize you were in the midst of a terrible dream? And then you go back to sleep and you have another dream that’s even worse? Well, here’s the thing. The Eagles’ pathetic 8-8 season was anything but a dream. But we slowly got over it. Then, the second nightmare happened–but again, it was real. What was once thought to be a season that would end with a parade down Broad Street will end with a parade 75 miles north in that cesspool of a city known as [...]

Super Bowl XLVI Predictions: Giants Vs. Patriots

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles | COMMENTS: 16 Comments

Because you haven’t already read/watched/heard 571 Super Bowl predictions over the last two weeks–here’s ten more. I’m not going to bore you with rehashed paragraphs of the same crap we’ve heard for weeks–plus, the general public is stupid, so instead of making you suffer through paragraphs, I’ll be making my predictions with bullet points. 1. The Patriots are going to score more than 24 points. Look, the Giants have a great pass rush that’s been in sync for more than a month now. But their back seven is below average, at best. Tom Brady, in a revenge game, with two [...]
