The Eagles traded linebacker Joe Mays to Denver in exchange for running back J.J. Arrington according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Mays was one of nine linebackers on the Philadelphia roster and had 18 tackles in 11 games last year. Mays is entering his third season in the NFL.
Arrington has rushed for 654 yards on 183 carries during his four year career. The California product also has 91 career receptions for 693 yards. The 5′9, 212 pound running back spent the last four seasons with Arizona before signing with Denver in the offseason.
Arrington was released on May 27, 2009 after [...]

The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to terms on a five year contract with first round pick Brandon Graham, a defensive end from Michigan.
Vick Can’t Leave the State
There’s a new report coming out this morning that, according to Michael Vick’s “crisis manager”, he’s not allowed to leave the state. This is all part of the aftermath of a shooting outside Vick’s birthday party in Virginia. It doesn’t really come as much surprise that something like this is happening though, as the victim of the shooting was a former co-defendant in Vick’s dog fighting case. Part of Vick’s probation was that he is not supposed associate with these people.
It’s really unclear how this will affect his traveling with the Eagles in the up coming season, but my guess [...]
Terrible news today came out of Las Vegas today, as the 2 and half year old son of former Eagles great QB Randall Cunningham died tragically when he drowned in a the families hot tub. Cunningham’s son, Christian, was found in the hot tub at around 4:30pm yesterday. Rescuers attempted to save his life, but sadly they were unable to do so.
“It appears that it’s just a complete tragedy … It only takes a brief minute for someone to take their eye off the child.” – Metro Lt. Dennis Flynn.
I know this news has been shared by many other Eagles [...]
Vick’s Predicament
I’d just like to expand a bit on the situation with Michael Vick. To summarize what happened: an old dog fighting associate of Vick was shot outside a restaurant where Vick was celebrating his 30th birthday. The altercation had something to do with someone either smashing the cake in Vicks face, or threatening to do so. After what ever happened with the cake, Vick’s old friend was shot in the parking lot of the restaurant. Although Vick is not a person of interest to police, this does not bode well for his attempted return to NFL stardom and the cleansing [...]
NFL & NFLPA to Talk CBA
Chris Bowen of Bolt Beat, the Fansided Network San Deigo Chargers blog, just forwarded me this great info and I thought I should share it with everyone as it really does affect every team and all the fans. According to a source close to the issue, the NFL and the NFLPA met today and there was supposed to be talk about the new collective bargaining agreement. Here is what was said by NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora:
The NFL and NFLPA will meet Wednesday morning in New York in their latest session toward getting a new collective bargaining agreement, according to source [...]
The Eagles are doing right by their new starting quarterback. According to scout.com’s Adam Caplan, the Eagles and Kevin Kolb have agreed on a one-year extension rumored to be worth $12.26 million in guaranteed cash.
Why only one year? Blame the lack of a new CBA and something called the 30% rule, which limits a player’s base salary growth to 30% from one year to the next. Guaranteed money does not apply to the rule, so the majority of the extension will be tied up in up front payment.
This represents a strong commitment to Kolb from the Eagles. He is no [...]
It took four rounds, but the Eagles finally took a cornerback, Trevard Lindley from Kentucky. He’s 5′11″ 185 pounds and finished his career with 10 interceptions and 43 passes defended.
Lindley was also a four-year starter who had shoulder and ankle problems last season. He’s not particularly fast and isn’t considered a good tackler. A perfect fit! He and Asante should get along great. For what it’s worth, the pundits call him a classic “boom or bust” pick.
Defense, defense, defense! All four picks have been spent on positions of need for Sean McDermott to play with. The Birds still have eight [...]
After trading back three times in the second- and third-rounds, the Eagles finally found a guy worthy to don the midnight green. His name is Daniel Te’o-Nesheim, a defensive end from Washington. Hallelujah! I have no idea who this guy is but he had 31 career sacks in four years.
Well, they certainly are piling up pass rushers. Apparently that lack of sacks last season really irked Reid/Roseman. He could be shifted to linebacker, like Chris Gocong. FANTASTIC!!!
Onward and upward. Unless they trade back into the third, they are done for the day. Tomorrow promises to be fun with 34 fourth-round [...]
Eagles Trade… Again!!!!
The Eagles have traded with Green Bay to get the 86th pick in the third-round and yet ANOTHER fourth-rounder. This is beginning to get frustrating. They now have FOUR fourth-round picks. It will be a busy day tomorrow.
PLEASE ANDY REID AND HOWIE ROSEMAN, PICK SOMEONE! ANYONE!!!!!
After wheeling ‘n’ dealing with the ‘Boys, the Eagles have… TRADED AGAIN!!! This time they dealt the 59th pick to Cleveland and acquired the 71st pick in the third-round and a pair of fifth-rounders. Got all that? I sure as hell don’t. Leave it to the Birds to make things exciting, or frustrating, depending on how you look at it.
Amazingly they have yet to select a cornerback. Makes me think either Nate Allen or Marlin Jackson will play there this season. Anyway, they now have a third-rounder, three 4ths, two 5ths, one 6th and two 7ths.
With the 55th pick in the second-round, the Eagles… trade it to Dallas for the 59th pick and a fourth-rounder this year. I would have preferred a third-round pick, but beggars can’t be choosers. Andy Reid couldn’t help himself. He needed to make a trade, just as he needs to draft an offensive lineman before too long. Maybe at #59.
More to come.
