Dexter Is Killer

AUTHOR: Scott Tunstall | IN: Draft, Eagles, NFL, Random Thoughts, Video | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

If you’ve been following Andy Reid drafts over the years, you know he loves gimmicky players. Small, shifty guys who can operate in space and cause matchup nightmares. Initially, Brian Westbrook was drafted to be a change of pace back, not the superstar workhorse he ended up becoming.
Ryan Moats and Lorenzo Booker were failed experiments, but that doesn’t mean Reid will suddenly shy away from plucking another toy from the ranks. One of the more dynamic and enticing players available this year is Mississippi running back/wide receiver Dexter McCluster.

Height\Weight: 5′11″, 215 lbs
Career stats: 39 games played, 245 tackles, 14 INTs, 17 PDs

Berry is arguably the best overall player in the 2010 draft. He’s fast, physical, competitive and versatile. Can play both man and zone schemes. Is a true ballhawk with soft hands and incredible instincts. Has amazing closing speed and will lower the boom when given the opportunity. Brings leadership and a strong work ethic to the table. Was a three-year starter and two-time unanimous first-team All-American. The best safety prospect since Sean Taylor. Is a surefire top ten selection.

40-time: 4.93
Went 21-4 as the Bearcats starter in 2008 and 2009. Led them to back-to-back Big East titles. Pike is tall, rangy and athletic. Displays excellent vision and throws with poise and accuracy. Moves well inside the pocket and can throw on the run. Very intelligent and has plenty of big game experience. Needs to add weight. Suffered a string of injuries in five years. Played in a shotgun offense. Arm strength is good, not great. Likely a mid-round [...]

Height/Weight: 5′10″, 196
Career stats: 41 games played, 159 tackles, 5 INT, 29 PDs
40-time: 4.48
Jackson is creeping up draft boards in recent weeks and could sneak into the first round. He’s a tremendous athlete with good size and speed. Can anticipate routes and closes on the ball quickly. Is experienced in both man and zone schemes. Has the strength to jam receivers at the line. Possesses supreme confidence and plays with an edge. Will attack the run game, but is an inconsistent and lazy tackler at times. Surgically repaired shoulder is a concern. Should be there [...]

Pouncey is by far the top center prospect in the 2010 draft. He’s a three-year starter with great leadership skills. Has quick feet and tremendous balance. Is physical at point of attack and plays nasty. Very mobile, can operate in space with ease. Rarely gets out-muscled and is capable of sustaining a push in the run game. Able to play either center or guard. Arms are a bit short. Played in primarily a shotgun offense. Should [...]

Draft Dossier: Kyle Wilson

AUTHOR: Scott Tunstall | IN: Draft, Eagles, NFL, Offseason, Video | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Kyle Wilson: Cornerback, SR – Boise State
Height/Weight: 5′10″, 195
Career Stats: 50 games played, 160 tackles, 11 INT, 27 PDs
40-time: 4.40
Wilson is another fast riser up draft boards ever since the Senior Bowl. Not the biggest prospect, Wilson makes up for his lack of size with speed, tenacity and vision. He’s a  fifth-year senior and four-year starter, so experience and leadership aren’t in short supply. Wilson covers the field well, is a legit playmaker and is excellent in run support. Will struggle against bigger wideouts, but plays with confidence and isn’t afraid of making mistakes. Can also contribute as a returner. He [...]

McCourty, a fifth-year senior, brings size, speed and experience to the table. He can run with fast receivers, close on the ball and is excellent in run support. Possesses great leadership skills and has a reputation as being a hard worker on and off the field. In addition, he’s a multi-talented special teams performer with seven blocked kicks in his career. DeSean Jackson Hits the Battlefield

AUTHOR: Scott Tunstall | IN: Eagles, Entertainment, Offseason, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

NFL players today love their video games. So much so that they are entering themselves in tournaments across the land. The Eagles own DeSean Jackson was in L.A. last week to participate in the Battlefield Bracket Challenge Presented by GameStop.
He, along with other athletes and celebs such as Chad Ochocinco and the lovely Stacy Keibler, went head-to-head playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which I presume has something to do with shooting bad guys with guns.
You can go to GameStop.com/BattlefieldBC2 to vote for DJax and also enter for a chance to win some nice swag, including $10,000 in cold, hard cash. [...]

The Play That Defined Brian Westbrook

AUTHOR: Scott Tunstall | IN: Eagles, NFL, Offseason, Video | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Brian Westbrook was many things during his days as an Eagle: explosive runner, dynamic receiver, one-man highlight reel, go-to weapon and team leader are just a few of the hats that he willingly wore.
He was one of the most professional and dedicated players I’ve ever seen. Even during his contract squabbles, he remained classy and didn’t resort to lowbrow tactics.
You hear terms like “team player” thrown around a lot, but those two words best describe Westbrook. He always did what was asked of him even when he didn’t agree. It’s not ideal being the main runner in an offense that [...]
