Previewing the Chiefs

AUTHOR: Ryan Messick | IN: Eagles, Gameday, NFL, Preseason | COMMENTS: None Yet

To get a better idea of what’s going on with the Chiefs, I spoke with Patrick Allen of Arrowhead Addict. To see the other side of our conversation and what I had to say about the Eagles, you can check out Patrick’s article. Be sure to visit ITI this evening as well, when I’ll give you five things to watch closely during tonight’s game. Preseason or not, the Eagles need to build some confidence in the offensive red zone, so this will be an important exhibition game. The Chiefs have a few things to improve [...]

2010 Eagles Gaining Attention

AUTHOR: Adam MacDonald | IN: Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s not unexpected for a team that parts ways with names like Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook to slide down a bit in the rankings of NFL critics and fans alike. Especially a team that follows this by adding almost no big name veterans to replace them. But as this newer, younger Eagles team trucks on through training camp and gains media attention one thing is becoming more evident to the world: The 2010 Eagles are going to be a force to be reckoned with.
Confirmation of the skepticism surrounding the Eagles off-season aren’t hard to find. You only have to [...]

Questions For The Beast: NY Giants

AUTHOR: Adam MacDonald | IN: Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

One of the great parts of writing for the Fansided Network is having the chance to work and interact with all the other fan site writers. Ryan and I had to chance to answer some questions for the NY Giants fan site GMenHQ. We put together some questions to bounce back to Andrew that we though Eagles fans would like to know about our New York rival
Will Perry Fewell change the defense?  What can we expect to see?

He already has changed it. But don’t expect a Tampa-2 either just because that’s what he had with Buffalo, expect multiple looks and [...]

Big Questions Surrounding Offensive Line

AUTHOR: Adam MacDonald | IN: Eagles, NFL, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

Heading into training camp, one of the questions that the Eagles faced was the status of their offensive line. Is it healthy, and if it is, how will it function as a unit? We as Eagles fans have been spoiled for a long time when it comes to the o-line. Gone are the days of Jon Runyan, Tra Thomas and Hank Fraley. After several days of camp, the concerns Eagles fans had about this unit during the off-season have yet to subside.
Lets talk about these particular off-season concerns: Jamaal Jackson torn his ACL last season. Todd Herremans had off-season foot [...]

Kolb Excited To Go Live

AUTHOR: Adam MacDonald | IN: Eagles, NFL, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

Today was the first day of training camp that introduced some live elements, where it’s basically football at its finest. Everyone is taking pops (except the QB’s), and people are knocking off some of the rust that may have built up over the off season. This is truely where camp gets interesting.
Our own Ryan Messick was at camp today when Kevin Kolb answered some media questions. The general feeling that we got from Kolb was that he was glad to get the pads on and see everyone out there competing and hitting. Although this is Kolb’s first camp as a [...]

Eagles Sign WR Perry, S Harris; Waive S Johnson

AUTHOR: Adam MacDonald | IN: Eagles, NFL, Training Camp | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Just a brief update on a few moves the Eagles made today at training camp. Apparently the team waived S Brett Johnson due to a hamstring injury. They then proceeded to bring in free agent safety Antoine Harris, who went undrafted in 2005 but was picked up by Tennessee. He spent time there on the practice squad but moved on to Atlanta where he saw action in 13 games in 2007 and 12 in 2008. He’s got 21 career tackles and has had some trouble with a groin injury.
Eagles also brought in 2 receivers to work out for them today, [...]

Eagles Training Camp 2010: Day 2

AUTHOR: Adam MacDonald | IN: Eagles, NFL, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

Day 2 of Eagles training camp started off with a bit of surprise to some, when Andy Reid and company released LB Alex Hall to make room on the roster for rookie 2nd round pick Nate Allen. Hall came to the Eagles via the Sheldon Brown/Chris Gocong trade, along with draft picks. Reid had great things to say about Hall, but he was more suited for a 3-4 defense playing outside linebacker. He went on to say that Hall will have no troubles finding work elsewhere.
As many of you know, Allen signed his rookie contract and reported to camp today. [...]

Thoughts on Final Two Draftees

AUTHOR: Adam MacDonald | IN: Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

As we get closer and closer to the day rookies report to training camp at Lehigh University, one may start to get more concerned about the fact that our current projected starting free safety Nate Allen (2nd Round, 37th overall) and our first round defensive end Brandon Graham (13th overall) have yet to be signed. I’d like to take this time to share my opinion on the likelihood of these two making it (or not making it) to camp on time.
First off, I believe it is more important for the team that Nate Allen does not miss any time at [...]

NFL Divisional Smackdown Begins Today!

AUTHOR: Adam MacDonald | IN: Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

If you remember a few weeks ago I told you guys we were putting together an NFC East All-Star team to go head to head against the other divisions in the NFL to see who was the best. Our NFC East bloggers, with the a tremendous amount of help from you (the fans), have put together a star studded roster.
But now we need your help again to make sure the rest of the NFL fans out there know that the NFC Beast is the roughest, toughest, and most skilled division in the NFL.  We’re head to head now with the [...]

Eagles 2010 Traing Camp Position Battles

AUTHOR: Adam MacDonald | IN: Eagles, NFL, Offseason | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’m sure I’m not the only one, but my favorite part of training camp is watching players battle it out for the starting spots on the roster. Last year we saw some good competition at receiver, defensive end and in the secondary. It looks like this season will be no different, with a few other positions thrown in the mix as well. With a young team like the Eagles have, the young bucks brought in should come into training camp with all cylinders firing to show the guys in the head office they’re going to earn their keep. But don’t [...]

Bell Will Be a Great Complement to McCoy

AUTHOR: Adam MacDonald | IN: Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

If you were anything like me, you were a bit thrown off initially this off-season when the Eagles tendered an offer sheet to then-restricted free agent Mike Bell. But the more I thought it about it, the more sense it made; Eldra Buckley didn’t have a good enough 2009 campaign to be a 2nd string RB, and although LeSean McCoy had Brian Westbrook to mentor him last season, he only just turned 22 years old. Having a guy with a few seasons under his belt, who so may consider a veteran at 27 (in running back terms), will help Shady [...]

NFC East All-Star Team D Needs Your Help!

AUTHOR: Adam MacDonald | IN: NFL | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

We’re all done putting together the offensive side of the ball for our NFC East All-Star Team, but now we need your help putting together the best possible defense. Right now we’re working on the defensive secondary, and with names like Asante Samuel, DeAngelo Hall, Mike Jenkins, and Antrel Rolle, this is once again a spot on the field where the NFC [B]East does not lack talent.
Vote for who you think is the best cornerback in the NFC East:  Cornerback Poll
Once your done there, fill out your electronic ballot for who is the best safety: Safety Poll
At linebacker you’ll see [...]
