The search for the Eagles next defensive coordinator remains ongoing, but the team took another step to sure up their offense coaching staff on Tuesday with the addition of Virginia offensive coordinator Bill Lazor.

Lazor, like the other recent additions to Kelly’s staff, weren’t confirmed by the team but it’s assumed the 40-year-old will join the team as quarterbacks coach.

The move makes sense for the Eagles as they add another coach with NFL experience to the staff. Prior to his stint with the University of Virginia Lazor coached quarterbacks in Seattle and Washington.

UVA ran a pro-style offense under Lazor, but the unit wasn’t particularly potent in 2012. The Cavaliers offense finished with the No.81 ranked offense in the country. Lazor’s style most certainly mirrors more Pat Shurmur than it does Chip Kelly.

The new head coach has made it clear he is not opposed to assembling a staff of diverse backgrounds and philosophies. Whether or not those philosophies mesh remains to be seen.
