Here is another mock draft written by Blake Meek of nflmocks.com. For this mock, I will give you my opinions on some of the picks I liked and some I don’t like so much.

And with the first pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select…

1. Luke Joeckel: I think this pick makes a lot of sense for the Chiefs. The Chiefs added a lot of pieces in the off season, but football games are won in the trenches. With the uncertainty of Brandon Albert, Joeckel will look solidify their line with Joeckel.

4. Geno Smith: Personally I don’t like this pick at all. Smith is not a top-5 talent and the Eagles have other positions that they could look to fill up. The three players I like at four for the Eagles are Star Lotulelei.

14. Sharrif Floyd: Floyd is considered a stone cold lock for the top 10 and he has a very strong chance of going in the top-5. If Floyd does fall I love the pick, but assuming he doesn’t, I think the Panthers will take Sheldon Richardson.

16. Kenny Vaccaro: The Rams cut Quintin Mikell this off season and are looking to draft a safety to fill the hole in their secondary. This is a great draft to do it and Vaccaro is the best safety in the draft. Vaccaro is a play-maker and would come to St. Louis and fill a need for the team.

25. Manti Teo: This pick has me scratching my head because the Vikings already have Chad Greenway and the Vikings have needs at corner, defensive tackle, and wide receiver. In this mock, Blake has the Vikings taking corner Desmond Trufant, so with their second pick I believe the Vikings would take either DeAndre Hopkins or Kawann Short.

Tell me what you think of this mock draft, what you think will happen in the upcoming draft, or what you think if my predictions in the comments.

Legendary wide receiver Cris Carter was finally given his rightful place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday. Carter played in 234 career games, caught 1,101 passes for 13,899, and hauled in 130 touchdowns. Carter was a student of the game, a model of consistency, and undoubtedly one of the best receivers in the history of professional football. But while Carter will be remembered for his work as a Minnesota Viking, it was with the Eagles where the Ohio State product first displayed his special skills.

A fourth-round selection in the 1987 supplementary draft, Carter amassed 89 catches for 1,450 yards, and 19 touchdowns during his three seasons in Philadelphia. As the Eagles lacked explosive offensive playmakers to compliment a dominant defense in the 1990s, one can only wonder what if Carter had been part of the mix. Would it have been enough to push the team over the top during their seasons that fell short of the ultimate goal? Who knows. It’s one of many questions that haunt this franchise after a 47th season without a Super Bowl victory.

Check out what could have been the first of all 130 career touchdowns in an Eagles uniform below.

When your team sucks and you know you’ll have three solid months of focusing on the NFL Draft, well, you want to at least temporarily delay that study and focus on the teams that are actually vying to play in New Orleans come February for the Super Bowl. So let’s take a look at the NFL Wild Card Weekend matchups and offer our initial picks and predictions.

Saturday, January 5th:

Bengals at Texans:

The Texans enter their postseason rematch of a year ago with the Bengals looking very vulnerable. With a chance to lock up the top-seed in the AFC and home field advantage throughout the playoffs against the Colts on Sunday afternoon, Houston was beaten in all phases of the game by an inspired Colts team. Something is a bit off with the Houston offense and that something is quarterback Matt Schaub.

The Texans signal caller completed over 66 percent of his passes on Sunday, but failed to throw a touchdown while tossing two interceptions while the defense continued to look ordinary. Still, this is a talented bunch that for much of the year was considered to be the best team in football. It’s hard to imagine a solid, but unimpressive Cincinnati team heading into Reliant Stadium and handing Houston a first round playoff exit. We’ll take the Texans, 27-17.

Vikings at Packers:

As expected, Adrian Peterson was a machine on Sunday, leading the way for a Vikings 37-34 win that sets up a Week 17 rematch with the Packers in Green Bay on Saturday night. Christian Ponder made the plays when it mattered most in leading his team to a postseason birth after a dismal 3-13 2011 campaign. While the Vikings defense and running game will present a challenge for the Packers, it’s almost nearly impossible to imagine that Aaron Rodgers will let a dynamic and talented offense sputter to another early-round playoff exit for the second straight year. It won’t be easy for the Packers, but the Packers’ potent pass offense should be enough to get by Minnesota in the opening around and set up one heck of a date with 49ers in San Francisco. Packers 30, Minnesota 17.
