A former first-round choice of the Steelers in 2009, Evander “Ziggy” Hood has served well as a rotational 3-4 defensive end after two lackluster years as a starter from 2011-2012. After being phased out of a starting role in 2013 by Cameron Heyward, Ziggy Hood managed 39 tackles and three sacks. While this signing wouldn’t be cause for concern for either Eagles starting end Fletcher Cox or Cedric Thornton, Hood fits in as a 6’3, 300 pound presence who epitomizes Chip Kelly’s desire to increase the size of the Eagles defense. However, the next player takes the meaning of size to a different stratosphere.
