There have been some surprising moves after the 2014 NFL Combine. In particular University of South Carolina defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney set the field on fire clocking a cool 4.53 second 40 yard dash. That was faster than half the wide receivers at the combine. That little bit of information set twitter world on fire. And rightly so. Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel may have dropped in status during the combine but he will still go in the first round. I believe that will be a mistake for the team who chooses him.
As you know, I have always maintained the Eagles need a great pass rusher that would compliment their defense. Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Trent Cole has been with the Birds for 12 seasons and led the team in sacks with eight last season. That my fellow Eagles fans is an anaemic stat. We need more sacks to be completely effective on defense. Cole at age 32 is on the tail end of his storied career but would be the perfect mentor for the right inside or outside linebacker if the Eagles can get one. You may be surprised who I think the Eagles will choose this week.
