Dave:
This pick came down to two players, one being USC standout receiver Marqise Lee and the other being Notre Dame’s nose tackle, Louis Nix III. The Steelers could go in either direction since both positions need upgrades, but with Emmanuel Sanders leaving in free agency the Steelers need to address wide receiver with a capable outside target. Lee gives quarterback Ben Roethlisberger a weapon to use in the hopes of getting back to the playoffs.
Giorgos:
It’s been some time since the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted a wideout in the first round. This year, however, it’s unavoidable. Emmanuel Sanders and Jericho Cotchery could be gone, but even if both are back, they are not the playmakers that Pittsburgh needs so much. Marqise Lee knows how to run a route and his speed allows him to create separation against the majority of defensive backs. He is a vertical threat and in the open he is very hard to tackle because off his speed and moves. Even though I prefer Odell Beckham Jr., the Steelers need Lee more than anything.
