Dave:
The Minnesota Vikings cause the first audible gasp of shock by selecting Missouri defensive end Kony Ealy with the eighth pick, but it’s reminiscent of when former Tigers standout Aldon Smith was selected seventh by the San Francisco 49ers in 2011. Ealy possesses ideal size for a 4-3 defensive end at 6’5″ and 275 pounds, while simultaneously filling a need due to Jared Allen’s departure.

Giorgos:
A lot of good options for the Minnesota Vikings here. With or without Jared Allen, the Vikings need a more talented defensive line. Kony Ealy of Missouri Tigers has been on the rise for quite some time and could fit like a glove in Minnesota. He has a quick first-step and a number of pass-rushing moves in his arsenal and can go after the quarterback from a three-point stance as well as from a two-point stance. If not him, the Vikings could go after quarterback Derek Carr, but I’d consider that a reach at this point.
