It’s not often that a team can win a game by 19 points, scoring 43 in total, and still make it seem like they could have put up at least three more touchdowns if everyone was on the same page. The Eagles have the opportunity to seize total control of the NFC East with a win on Thursday.

Every accomplishment this season can be thrown out the door. This game could very well be the key to a possible #1 seed, or the beginning of an unfortunate descent into a lowly #6 seed, possibly pitting the Eagles against the Dallas Cowboys for a third time. Or, somewhere in the middle and we should all just take it one game at a time.

  • It’s easy to say that Mark Sanchez should be able to spot his mistakes and overcome them, but he’s extremely lucky that the Titans just didn’t have enough firepower to make a serious dent despite ample opportunities. Still, Jordan Matthews is on a tremendous rookie campaign and Jeremy Maclin is just shy of topping the thousand yard mark for the first time in his career. LeSean McCoy seems to have found his groove, and there’s always Darren Sproles to worry about. The offense, as long as the Eagles line can keep Sanchez clean, should have no problem moving the chains.

For the Eagles defense, it becomes a series of mini-games on each play. Stop DeMarco Murray and don’t allow Tony Romo time to get to his 3rd or 4th receiver in the progression. Easier said than done, but Cedric Thornton and Connor Barwin should have a blast going against Cowboys right tackle Doug Free.

I’d expect Billy Davis to call a similar game to what he called for the Giants, but the key is making sure the pressure arrives from your three (or four) man rushes. The Cowboys will definitely put up numbers, but I expect the Eagles to be able to limit the amount of comfortable, seamless drives. Still, I’m expecting a photo finish, because this is the NFC East, baby!
