Film Study

6) Another impressive play by Thomas here against Illinois as he shows blitz and at the snap he drops back to cover the outside receiver and plays the ball perfectly, almost coming up with an interception.

7) These final plays are from the Western Kentucky’s bowl game against Central Michigan in the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl. Thomas got beat a couple of times during this game for a few touchdowns but how he responded is what really impressed me. The game was out of hand with his team leading by a wide margin for practically the entire game. Here is an early touchdown he gave up though, where he made the catch tough but the receiver still made the play.

8) Thomas gets beat initially by the receiver on this play but stays with the play and actually comes up with the interception after the safety bats the ball away. Just goes to show why the “tip drill” is so important.

9) Thomas reads the comeback route perfectly and jumps the pass. If it was actually thrown better by the quarterback, Thomas likely would have come away with the interception.

10) Let’s end the film study with a bang, literally. Thomas absolutely destroyed this screen play and lit up the receiver. He definitely showcased some impressive burst and recognition on this play, that’s for sure.
