Byron Jones, Cornerback, Connecticut

There it is, the Eagles get their guy…if it isn’t Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, of course. Kelly and his staff have been all over Jones during the pre-draft process, which I detailed here. At 6’1″, 199 lbs. with his athleticism and man coverage abilities, Jones makes so much sense for Philadelphia. He checks off all the boxes in terms of what they look for in a prospect.

Vice president of player personnel Ed Marynowitz discussed how the team has a set height, weight, speed mark that they set for each position. Jones likely meets or exceeds all of those requirements and he also adds positional versatility with his experience at safety as well. Everyone knows how Kelly loves high character players and Jones is exactly that as well, a former team captain for the Huskies, Jones is the perfect pick at 20th overall for the Eagles.
