Brandon Boykin, Corner

It seems like the same old story when it comes to corner Brandon Boykin and the Philadelphia Eagles. Boykin expresses his feelings towards being solely a nickel corner, and the Philadelphia Eagles express that the best players will play even though Boykin is one of the better players. This is how it has been going since Boykin was drafted in 2012. Boykin plays well and shows everyone watching that he is one of the best corners on the team, and the Eagles refuse to give him a fair shot.

Brandon Boykin doesn’t necessarily fit the mold of what the team wants from their starting outside corners. Boykin is small and has short arms, something that might not be ideal when you’re a press man defense, but when you have guys that fit the mold of tall and lanky but can’t play, that also creates a problem. Boykin has been buried on the depth chart by the likes of Bradley Fletcher, Cary Williams, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Those guys were garbage during their time as Eagles, but Boykin still didn’t get a fair chance. Boykin has racked up 7 interceptions in the past two seasons, but because he is 2 inches shorter than the ideal player, he will likely resume his nickel duties. Brandon Boykin deserves to start, but it probably won’t happen.
