Philadelphia Eagles: Which 5 Players Deserve To Start?
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports
Zach Ertz, Tight End
The one player who has been getting most of the attention during the spring practices has been third year tight end Zach Ertz. Ertz has had a great spring and looks primed for a monster season. The 24 year old tight end has pro bowl potential and a fantastic work ethic. Zach is quickly becoming a favorite target for QB Sam Bradford and is also becoming a fan favorite. Zach’s playing time has been the only reason as to why he hasn’t had gaudy numbers his first two years in the NFL.
Ertz blocking was the issue why the team has favored Brent Celek in the past, but with Zach working tremendously hard in the offseason on perfecting his craft, look for Ertz playing time to go up and take over the starting role. The sky is the limit for Ertz and even his teammates realize this. Ertz is a sound route runner with soft hands, but also has the ability to box out defenders with his 6’5 250lbs frame. All signs point to Ertz having a great season. If Zach has truly improved on his blocking, look for Ertz ro be one of the more dominating tight ends in the entire NFL.
