Finally the Philadelphia Eagles are done with all of the “meaningless” preseason games. The next time they take the field, the end result will actually matter and hopefully we don’t see anymore players taking a game off for “rest” or a “little nagging leg injury.”

But there’s still quite some time left until the Eagles take the field against the Atlanta Falcons for the season opener on Monday Night Football. Before they make the trip down to Atlanta, the Eagles will have to cut their roster down to the final 53-man roster. Throughout OTAs, mini-camp, training camp and of course, preseason games, players at the end of the roster were battling for their NFL lives.

Those battles reached their pinnacle last night as many players were battling it out with one another for a final spot on the Eagles’ roster. Whether it was quarterbacks Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow on the offensive side of the ball or Ed Reynolds and Jerome Couplin on the defensive side of the ball, the battles were evident on Thursday night. But ultimately Eagles head coach Chip Kelly will have the last word on the team’s final 53-man roster for the first time in his NFL coaching career.

Trying to figure out what’s going on in Kelly’s mind is about as easy as guessing the winning lottery numbers. Yet I’ll give it a shot as I take my final shot at guessing the Eagles’ final 53-man roster, as well as the practice squad. So let’s get right into it, starting with the offense!
