I think the Philadelphia Eagles will start the 2015 season with a win on the road but it won’t be easy. The Eagles new look secondary will struggle to contain Julio Jones who looks poised for a big season and a big game. I’m surprised the Eagles aren’t going to have Maxwell follow him. Luckily for the Eagles secondary, the Falcons defense will struggle to stop the Eagles offense.
I expect the Eagles to have a lot of success with the ball on the ground and in the air. Jordan Matthews should have a monster game, I think the Eagles will use Matthews on a lot of seam routes from the slot. The Eagles offensive line should have there way with the Falcons defensive line and open up some big holes for DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews to exploit. The Falcons on the other hand will struggle to run the ball on the Eagles front 7, despite having Kyle Shanahan as their Offensive Coordinator.
Final Score Prediction: Eagles 31, Falcons 27
Game MVP: DeMarco Murray. Predicted stat line: 22 carries, 110 yards, 1 touchdown. I think Mathews could get a few carries but I expect Murray to carry the ball a lot and take over the game like he did so many times last year. Murray looked sharp in the preseason and I don’t think the Falcons will be able to slow him down at all.
