Jordan Hicks, Inside Linebacker

When the Philadelphia Eagles selected Jordan Hicks out of Texas in the third round of this years draft many were upset, including myself. The team already had young studs like Kiko Alonso, Mychal Kendricks, and the veteran DeMeco Ryans, why waste a pick on another inside linebacker? Injuries, that’s why. Mychal has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, and Kiko has been dealing with a knee injury. Step in Jordan Hicks, and boy has he been all over the field.

Pro Football Focus rates Hicks as the fourth best linebacker in the entire league. Hicks has 27 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 3 fumble recoveries. Now that’s what I call stuffing the stat sheet, not to mention the fact that Hicks also derailed the Dallas Cowboys season by knocking out quarterback Tony Romo until late November or early December with a fractured clavicle. Hicks has been consistent and has earned his right to be on the field. I’m not sure who gets “X” amount of snaps when Kiko and Mychal come back, but Hicks deserves his fair share.
