2016 NFL Mock Draft: Eagles Go Defensive
By Jesse Shuter
2) Cleveland Browns: Jalen Ramsey CB/S, Florida State
What? No quarterback? The Browns need a quarterback, and they should take a quarterback, but I don’t think they will. The signing of Robert Griffin III tells me that they are not infatuated with Carson Wentz or Jared Goff. With Tennessee ahead of them and their quarterback position solved, the Browns would likely have their pick of quarterback but opted instead to go with RG3.
Ramsey is an elite secondary player and would either be an excellent safety with them to lock down the field in between the hash marks, or would form possibly the best cornerback tandem in the NFL alongside cornerback Joe Haden.
As far as quarterback, I have a hunch that the Browns really like Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch and will try to use the first overall pick in the second round to move up and grab Lynch later in the first round. Signing RG3 would be a great way to let Lynch sit for a couple of years which he needs to do while he develops.
