Philadelphia Eagles’ Best Late-Round Draft Picks Since 2000
By Jeff Glauser
1) Trent Cole (5th Round, 2005)
Originally thought to be too small to endure as a defensive end in the league, all Cole did was tally 85.5 sacks, 19 forced fumbles and a couple Pro Bowls in his ten seasons as an Eagle. The de facto leader on the team’s defense after Brian Dawkins’ departure in 2008, he was equally respected both on and off the field. And when he made plays, he often made them in bunches.
Though his production has waned in recent years upon being moved to outside linebacker, Cole did contribute some for the Colts last season, and recently restructured his contract to remain with them.
