Philadelphia Eagles 2016 Seven-Round Mock Draft
By Ryan Quigley
Third Round (No. 79 overall): Paul Perkins, RB, UCLA
Perkins has been labeled a poor man’s Jamaal Charles and considering Head Coach Doug Pederson coached Charles for three years during his time with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Eagles may feel inspired enough to select Perkins early in the draft.
Perkins is not very big and his speed isn’t overwhelming, but his elusiveness is eye-popping. He brings versatility to the table as a threat in both the ground and passing game, which is something the Eagles are looking for. If the Eagles do not select a back like Perkins early in the draft, they will likely be stuck with Ryan Mathews as the starter for the 2016 season. Considering Mathews’ injury history, an early investment in a running back wouldn’t be a bad one.
