4. Wendell Smallwood, running back

This is a similar case to Jalen Mills. Its tough to judge a player based off of one season, but based off of what we’ve seen so far and the tremendous need for the Eagles to figure out their ground game, Wendell Smallwood’s spot on the roster could be in jeopardy.

There is plenty of talent at running back in this year’s draft. While Smallwood has been working to get back in shape after an MCL sprain that ended his season in 2016, the Eagles have been holding private workouts with FSU’s Dalvin Cook, and showing interest in Stanford’s Christian Mcaffrey.

This should be a wake-up call for Smallwood as he could lose his position as the first or second back in this upcoming season. While many believe Smallwood could be a valuable asset to the Eagles this year, he could see a very limited role in the future if they decide to draft another ball carrier.
