4. Samaje Perine, Oklahoma Sooners
Samaje Perine is a fearless back who loves to run defenders over. That makes quite a few people skeptical about his style of running. It’s unlikely, he’ll be able to run through defenders at the pro level like he did during his collegiate days. You still can’t question the fact that he rushed for over a thousand yards in all three of his years at Oklahoma. In 2016, he did so as a second-string back who was playing behind Mixon.
His style of running could be risky in the NFL considering the history of injuries guys have had with the same running style. The Eagles will want to avoid using the “committee” approach again during the 2017 season, but if they want to pair Wendell Smallwood with someone else, Perine would probably be the right guy for the job.
