Philadelphia Eagles: 5 prospects who could replace Jordan Matthews
Dede Westbrook, Oklahoma
Westbrook would be a change in philosophy for the Eagles and how they want their slot receiver to look.
The former sooner stands at 6’0″, 178 pounds, a similar physique to the likes of DeSean Jackson. What he can’t provide in size, Westbrook makes up for with speed, running a 4.44 at the combine.
In 2016, Westbrook had a reception of 40+ yards in 9 of 12 regular season games, including receptions of 88, 75, and 71 yards.
Westbrook won’t be a featured No. 1 receiver on an NFL team. His outside duties will mostly consist of streaks and deep plays to take advantage of specific coverages. In the slot, however, Westbrook will lineup against corners with similar size and weight to himself, only Westbrook has the speed to make them pay over the middle of the field.
The Eagles are in desperate need of speed (no pun intended) on offense and Westbrook would certainly help.
