Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama

Reuben Foster is a six-foot, 229-pound linebacker coming out of Alabama. He is known for his hard-hitting and angry playing style who is quick on his feet and plays with a chip on his shoulder. The idea of Foster dropping to the Eagles at the No. 14 was a long shot. That is until Foster’s drug test samples came back as diluted. According to NFL rules, a diluted sample automatically counts as failed. Foster denied any wrongdoing, saying he just drank a lot of water to stay hydrated. To add on to the problem, Foster had a heated exchange with a doctor taking the test, which got him sent home from the NFL Combine.

This incident has caused teams to reconsider taking Foster in the first round. The scene that he caused at the combine has shown immaturity, which could be problematic in the locker room. Alabama’s head coach Nick Saban came to Foster’s defense, calling him a great teammate and saying that he didn’t think he was immature at all. That is a lot coming from arguably one of the best college coaches in the NCAA. If the Eagles choose to select Foster, he could pair really well with Jordan Hicks.
