Philadelphia Eagles: 3 Things we’d like to forget about Brandon Graham
3. The argument about whether or not he should even be here in the first place
Let’s take a stroll down memory lane. The year was 2010, and it was draft time in the NFL. The Eagles, who had shown for quite some time that they were having difficulty in replacing future NFL Hall of Fame inductee and safety Brian Dawkins, traded up in the draft to the 13th-overall selection. Most thought they were doing so to take former Texas Longhorns standout Earl Thomas. Instead, they took Graham (former head coach Andy Reid typically took defensive or offensive linemen in the first round). Thomas landed with the Seattle Seahawks one pick later.
Debate has raged on ever since about whether or not the Eagles made the correct decision.
The former struggled to get it going but eventually turned out to be pretty good. The latter has, arguably, constructed a resume worthy of seeing his likeness end up in Canton, Ohio. There are two reasons we don’t hear this discussed as much as it used to be. One is the fact that Graham has turned it around and appears to, finally, be headed in the right direction. The other is the result of a season-ending tibia fracture that Thomas suffered in week 13 of last season. That now has him considering retirement.
