Trey Burton

Burton is already one of the more underrated players on the Eagles’ roster. His game isn’t flashy, but he proved to be an extremely useful player for the Eagles last season in Carson Wentz‘s rookie campaign. Labelled primarily as a “special teams ace,” Burton showed that he’s not only a reliable presence on special teams, but also as an offensive weapon.

In 2016, Burton caught 37 balls for 327 yards and one touchdown—all of which being career-highs for the 25-year-old tight end.

32-year-old Brent Celek is set to enter his 11th professional season and it’s fair to wonder how much fuel he has left in the tank. Celek has become somewhat of an afterthought as a big play threat and mainly fills the role of a blocking tight end. It wouldn’t be totally crazy to assume Burton can see an increased role as a receiver. After all, the Eagles placed a second-round tender on him this offseason to keep him from being claimed by another team, so clearly Philadelphia has a plan for the former Florida Gator.
