The 2017 regular season in the NFL hasn’t even started, and you have to believe that Joe Douglas and the Eagles are already focused on what comes after that.

You can’t do much better than the Philadelphia Eagles did in the 2017 NFL Draft. They needed cornerbacks, and they got two of them, Sidney Jones and Rasul Douglas. There was a need at wide receiver and they got two of those as well, Mack Hollins and Shelton Gibson. Add the Tennessee Volunteers‘ all-time leader in sacks, Derek Barnett, and the all-time leading rusher in NCAA history, Donnel Pumphrey, and you have a young core of players that could be pretty special if everything works out.

Some of the focus shifts now to linebacker and questions about depth. There’s some talent and leadership there in the form of Nigel Bradham and Jordan Hicks. There’s the youth of Nathan Gerry. Then, there’s uncertainty about what to do about Mychal Kendricks and his contract situation. Eagles vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas is, no doubt, on top of it. In the meantime, we at Inside The Iggles have added a few names to our 2018 draft board that Philly might find interesting.

Let’s begin.
