Here we go again debating the Eagles running back position.

The Philadelphia Eagles will have quite a few decisions to make about their roster when the curtain draws on the 2017 season. 21 players who will wear an Eagles jersey will enter free agency at season’s end. Two of the names on their list figure to be key contributors on offense and play a position we’ve, seemingly, had questions about since former head coach Chip Kelly basically gave LeSean McCoy away.

Darren Sproles, one of those guys with an expiring contract, has already announced his retirement. LeGarrette Blount signed a one-year deal on May 17th, and while that has quite a few fans excited, there are still others that can’t forget about the droughts in production we’ve seen from him with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. We all have to prepare for the possibility that the Eagles’ experiement with Blount won’t work.

Ryan Mathews will see his contract expire as well, but he won’t even be around for the start of the season. With that being said, it’s time to identify some preliminary targets for the Eagles to scout prior to the 2018 NFL Draft. We’ve got five ideas on who they should start with.

Let’s begin.
