5 reasons the Philadelphia Eagles will make the playoffs in 2017

Carson Wentz
The Eagles hit the jackpot when they selected Carson Wentz second overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. There was a lot to like from him last year and it’s hard to imagine he won’t take a step forward this season with an improved supporting cast. Despite the lack of weapons, rookie jitters and overall inexperience, Wentz was still able to have a campaign worthy of an NFL Rookie of the Year nomination.
Perhaps the most important difference this season compared to last year is the amount of pressure on his shoulders. Wentz was asked to do a lot as a rookie in 2016. He threw the ball 607 times, which is astronomical for a first-year player. Only Drew Brees, Joe Flacco, Blake Bortles and Aaron Rodgers attempted more passes.
With better receivers, a better ground game and a whole year of experience under his belt, Wentz should be able to make a significant leap in production in his second professional season. If Wentz plays well, the Eagles play well. And if the Eagles play well, a trip to the postseason becomes more than just a fantasy.
