The end of the NFL offseason is finally in sight. Training Camp begins this month for the Philadelphia Eagles.

We’ve finally made it folks. The NFL offseason is coming to a close. No more baseball discussion. Baseball has served as the iceberg lettuce salad of the weekend BBQ. The appetizers are heading our way on July 24th when select veterans check in for training camp. The main course is 10 short weeks away.

Competition is sure to heat up when the pads come on. Being a stand out during OTA’s and mandatory mini-camps is one thing. Proving yourself to be one of the 53 best players when contact is at it’s zenith is an entirely different animal. One is hamburgers and hot dogs on a gas grill while the other is sous vide tri-tip.

Enough about food however. The Philadelphia Eagles have playoff aspirations in Doug Pederson’s second season as head coach. Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz received shiny toys for his defense this offseason meant to help combat a skilled set of opposing offenses in the NFC East. Speaking of the offseason, Carson Wentz already faces a “prove it” season after the Eagles bolstered the offense by signing Alshon Jeffery, Torrey Smith, and LeGarrette Blount. Some positions weren’t addressed as significantly however. That’s where the competition later this month is the fiercest.
