5 Philadelphia Eagles players to draft in fantasy football
By Ryan Quigley
Jordan Matthews
Matthews has disappointed in recent years, but it’s possible he could rebound into the player Eagles fans thought they were getting after his phenomenal rookie season.
After a failure of a season as an outside receiver in 2016, Matthews will return to the slot in 2017, where the 6’3″, 213-pound receiver really excels. Per PFF Fantasy Football, Matthews has been the best wide receiver in the NFL over the last three seasons when taking snaps from the slot. Since 2014, he has recorded a total of 2,389 receiving yards when lined up in the middle of the field, equating to roughly 89 percent of his career output.
In his first two seasons (in which he lined up mostly in the slot), Matthews caught 152 balls for 1,869 yards and 16 touchdowns. If he can come anywhere close to that kind of production again, he’ll be worth a spot on your fantasy team.
