As we expected, there will be some noticeable absences from both the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants lineups.

We’ve discussed the noteable injuries for Sunday’s home opener for the Philadelphia Eagles ad nauseam. Just in case you missed some of the banter however, the Eagles have released a list of those injured players. The New York Giants will stumble into Sunday’s game as well. There are a few noticeable names from their roster that probably won’t be participating either.

The Eagles will have to do some shuffling with their defensive backs. The Giants are attempting to try and turn a season around that’s started with an 0-2 record. They’ll have to do so without four of their starters available. That includes rookie tight end Evan Engram (concussion), cornerback Janoris Jenkins (ankle), right tackle Bobby Hart (ankle). Throw in linebackers J.T. Thomas (groin) and B.J. Goodson (shin) for good measure.

The good news for New York is Engram and Jenkins are listed as questionable. You’ll also notice that Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. isn’t on the team’s list. He made his season debut in week two and is expected to play in this one. Who knows how effective he’ll be, but it isn’t expected that he’ll be a huge factor, especially if he’s still recovering.

Here’s a list of noticeable absences from the Eagles roster:

More from Inside the Iggles

Cornerback Ronald Darby (ankle)

Safety Corey Graham (hamstring)

Cornerback/safety Jaylen Watkins (hamstring)

Defensive tackle Destiny Vaeao (wrist)

Game-time decisions and the IR:

Wide receiver Torrey Smith and safety Rodney McLeod are game-time decisions thanks to McLeod’s hamstring and Smith’s illness.

As far as other injuries go, kicker Caleb Sturgis is on the Eagles’ injured reserve thanks to a quad injury. Cornerback Sidney Jones remains on the Eagles’ PUP (physically unable to perform) list.

Next: Odell Beckham Jr.’s presence shouldn’t matter much

Jake Elliott, as you all probably know, replaces Caleb Sturgis in the lineup but doesn’t appear to be a long-term replacement. Expect Sturgis to be reinstated into the lineup once he’s ready to go.
