We now know, thanks to Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson that Fletcher Cox will miss the first game of his career against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Well, that settles that. Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson addressed the media on Friday. Much was discussed, the size of this soccer field the Los Angeles Chargers play in for instance. Carson Wentz‘s release was another topic, but, without question, the biggest news came when Coach Pederson announced defensive tackle Fletcher Cox won’t be available for Philadelphia’s week four contest.

You could almost hear a pin drop when he said it.

Joining Cox on the list of names that will be noticeably absent are safeties Jaylen Watkins and Corey Graham and defensive tackle Destiny Vaeao. Prior to Pederson’s Friday morning presser, we at Inside The Iggles reported that there was a pretty good shot that safety Rodney McLeod would be in the lineup. We were right. Pederson announced that he’d be in the lineup for Sunday’s game.

Philadelphia doesn’t appear to be in dire straits at defensive tackle. They’ll need even more from Timmy Jernigan who’s done an excellent job during his first three games in the team colors.

Beau Allen is also available. When given a chance to play, he’s always done an excellent job. He’ll get plenty of action on the west coast. We may even get a chance to see how good rookie Elijah Qualls can be in an important game.

Not playing in Sunday’s game means Cox misses the first game of his NFL career. Is it Sunday yet? It sure seems like it’s taking a long time for this game to get here.
