Torrey Smith took to Twitter to let everyone know he will bounce back.

When the Philadelphia Eagles signed wide receiver Torrey Smith, he was expected to be the veteran leader that they haven’t had in past seasons. Although we knew he wasn’t the same player from his successful stint with the Baltimore Ravens, we still expected him to be a major upgrade on the offense.

Through four games, Smith has been limited to 10 receptions for 134 yards and zero touchdowns. He has had multiple dropped passes on his 19 targets that were clearly catchable. It is clear that quarterback Carson Wentz does not shy away from throwing Smith the ball. Unfortunately, they do not seem to be well connected.

As Smith is known to be a deep route runner that stretches the field, his lack of deep catches is concerning. He only has one catch posted that is over 25 yards. Although the Eagles fan base has been ripping him on a weekly basis, Smith is aware of his lack of production. In fact, he took to Twitter to express his disappointment in himself.

A word from Torrey:

Bouncing Back:

Smith’s statement came not too long after the Eagles defeated the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. It was clear that he was aware of his lack of production. On Sunday, he was held to only one catch for nine yards. After he tweeted out his disappointment in himself, Eagles fans responded with some encouraging words.

He may be struggling currently, but his potential seems a lot more promising in comparison to last year. Through these first four games, Smith has already surpassed half of his receiving production compared to the 14 games he played last year. It would be shocking to see him post career-low numbers with the Eagles offense.

Torrey Smith will get his first opportunity to bounce back when the Eagles return to Lincoln Financial Field to play the Arizona Cardinals. As you may know, Smith’s former team, the San Francisco 49ers are division rivals with the Cardinals. Therefore he is very familiar with the upcoming opponent which could help him have an advantage. A little bit of focus and preparation should have Smith right back on track to a successful comeback season.
