Command of the offense: B+ (89%)

This next statement may infuriate you if you’re a fan of the Eagles seemingly brand new theory on running the football. There was some speculation that, in Philly’s attempts to dedicate themselves to a ground attack against the New York Giants, most of their rushing attempts were due to Wentz’s adjustments at the line and not because Pederson actually called runs in the huddle.

Pederson, an Andy Reid disciple nonetheless, has oft times been criticized for relying on his signal caller far too often. As a result, it’s probably Pederson’s fault that opposing defenses have been able to tee off, pin their ears back and go into attack mode over and over and over again.

As far as Wentz goes, his adjustments at the line show more of his maturity. No longer is he driving the ball downfield in late game scenarios and turning it over a la The Detroit Lions game. Instead, we’re seeing the guy we saw at the Los Angeles Chargers (it’s still hard to remember to say that).

He’s checking out of plays. Hes throwing the ball away to assure the opportunity to score points. There’s a lot more to learn obviously, but he definitely gets a passing grade here along with room for improvement.
