Carson Wentz named Fed Ex Air player of the week for second time
Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz just keeps on winning.
Two weeks ago, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz was named Fed Ex Air player of the week for the first time this season. He was honored for his four touchdown performance in the blowout victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Fast forward another week, and Wentz was nominated for the second consecutive week, and what do you know? Wentz wins again!
While the second-year quarterback was heading into last week’s game, he had a lot of doubters. A lot of people questioned if he could beat a tough team like the Carolina Panthers. There were also question marks on the fact if he was able to win without Lane Johnson or not.
Sure enough, Wentz and the Eagles came away with a victory. Not only did the Eagles win, but Wentz also got a victory of his own. Wentz’s 222 passing yards for three touchdowns against a tough Carolina defense once again assured Eagles fans that he was the real deal. Even without his best offensive lineman, Wentz was able to take control and remain focused to get the win.
Going for three?
Wentz and the Eagles are getting prepared for another prime-time showdown this week. Similar to last week, they are heading into a statement game. This time against our NFC East division rivals, the Washington Redskins. Wentz was able to lead the Eagles to victory the first time these two teams met. Will he be able to emulate the same success from week one?
So far this season, the Eagles are 2-0 while playing at home. Although they have struggled against Washington in the past, there is no team in the NFC that is hotter than the Eagles. Wentz is currently playing at an MVP level and the Redskins are well aware.
Washington head coach Jay Gruden praised Wentz on Thursday. He mentioned that he thought Wentz was one of the fastest progressing quarterbacks that he has ever seen. With Washington having key injuries to their defense, Wentz has the advantage once again. Could he win player of the week again for the third time?
