Carson Wentz named NFC Offensive Player of the month
Carson Wentz has been named NFC Offensive Player of the month for his October performance.
Around this time last year, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz came back down to earth. He started off his rookie season with an impressive 3-0 start until the Eagles came back to reality and lost three of their four games in October. Wentz eventually ended his rookie campaign with 3,782 yards and a 16 to 14 touchdown/interception ratio. His downfall in his rookie season made it hard for outsiders to believe he was truly the real deal.
Fast forward to 2017 and Wentz started off the season strong once again. Only this time, his hot streak has yet to burn out. Wentz was recently named the NFC Offensive Player of the month for October. In the entire month of October, Wentz was two touchdowns shy of his total touchdown passes that he threw last season. In fact, he is currently tied for the most touchdown passes in the entire NFL right now.
Mr. October 2017
Carrying on…
Wentz looks to keep the ball rolling as the season progresses on. The franchise leader has made it clear that he cares more about a team trophy rather than an MVP award. But that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get credit for the way he has been playing. Wentz has clearly made himself a candidate for the league’s MVP. Although there is plenty of football left to be played, he doesn’t seem to be slowing down like he did last year.
The fact is, Wentz finally looks comfortable. He has plenty of weapons around him and he has figured out how to use them. As long as Wentz keeps playing at the high level he has been playing at, this team won’t struggle to win games at all.
The Eagles kick off the month of November against a stout Denver Broncos defense. This week could potentially be Wentz’s biggest challenge yet in the 2017 season. Although he has handled tough defenses pretty well in the past, Wentz will have to carry on without one of his key protectors, Jason Peters. Although it will be tough, the Wentz and the offense should be just fine moving on.
