Four Eagles that are key to a victory against Broncos
Carson Wentz, QB
Speaking of Carson Wentz, he is another guy that needs to transform his performance into something better from last week. The current MVP candidate might’ve hurt his odds of winning it a little bit after last week’s performance. Although Wentz doesn’t care much about solo awards, he still plays the most important position on the offense. So in order for the Eagles to win convincingly, having Wentz playing like an MVP really increases the chances of it happening.
Last week, Wentz notched his worst passer rating since week two. That was shocking to see considering they were playing a win-less 49ers team. Maybe the pressure on Wentz took a toll on him, but that still doesn’t excuse certain plays. Wentz sailed a clear touchdown pass over Alshon Jeffery’s head when he was wide-open. That was one of the few plays that had everyone scratching their heads.
Going against a team like 49ers, those type of plays are ones that they knew they could make up for. This week against Denver will not be the same case. This is one of the toughest defenses in the league. Any potential big play from Wentz and company needs to be capitalized on if the Eagles want a clear victory.
