Denver Broncos CB Chris Harris insults Philadelphia Eagles offense
You’re not going to believe what Broncos cornerback Chris Harris had to say about the Philadelphia Eagles offense.
“Like I said, they run this college offense” said Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris after said offense ripped through the Broncos like a hot knife through butter en route to an impressive 53-21 victory. The Philadelphia Eagles dominated all day in a game where their quarterback, Carson Wentz, threw for 199 yards and four touchdowns on 15 completions. For the season, Wentz has completed just under 61 percent of his passes. He’s thrown for 2,262 yards, completing 176 of his 291 attempts, and he’s thrown for 23 touchdowns.
Harris appears to be unimpressed however. That despite the fact the 51 points the Eagles scored on the Broncos are the most any team has scored on the Broncos since 2010. Denver entered the Week 9 with their defense being ranked first in the NFL and their run defense ranked second. On the ground, Philly posted 197 rushing yards on a team that only allowed just under 73 yards during the first eight weeks of the season.
If that’s a college offense, most Eagles fans would probably agree they’re satisfied with it.
Here are a few more points from Mr. Harris.
According to Harris, the Eagles “stole” their offense from Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs. That’s not necessarily strange seeing as how Eagles head coach Doug Pederson served as Reid’s offensive coordinator with the Chiefs. Maybe “stole” is a strange word, but if that isn’t interesting enough, there’s even more to digest from what Harris said.
Take a look.
"They kind of run what the Chiefs do. They have the option to run, option to pass, they run the read-option, they run the real option. He is checking into a lot of things. I mean, it just a college offense, so he is just executing it very well."
Wait. Is this guy serious?
Honestly, does anyone remember the Eagles running an option prior to yesterday? Maybe they have, but no one should act as though that’s a consistent piece of the offense. Maybe Harris is frustrated. After all, the Broncos haven’t met expectations for a few weeks. Then again, maybe you’re among those who may agree with what he said. Either way, the Eagles are lighting it up. They seem to be setting records every week, and honestly, this team can still improve in so many areas on offense.
Next: 3 Eagles that shined against Denver
Prior to week nine’s Monday night game, they’re fifth in total offense, 13th in passing and third in rushing. Their 31.4 points per game make them second in the league in that category. Numbers don’t lie. This Eagles offense has the potential to be historically great, and if that means they have to run a college offense to get there, then bring it on.
No one will complain if it keeps working.
