PHILADELPHIA, PA – NOVEMBER 05: Cornerback Jalen Mills /

Jalen Mills, CB

Jalen Mills wanted to be known for more than his green hair. The self-proclaimed “Green Goblin” has been outstanding this season. Normally a seventh-round draft pick is just hopeful to remain on the roster. In Mills case, it would be disappointing if he isn’t even the starter. The second-year cornerback had his fair share of snaps last season and showed some promise. Although he was one of the worst cornerbacks in 2016 according to Pro Football Focus, that didn’t stop Mills from improving.

Mills’ came into the 2017 offseason knowing that a starting spot would not be handed to him. As both outside positions were wide open during training camp, Mills seized the opportunity and made it almost impossible to take him off the field.

Currently, Mills is ranked with the fourth-most tackles on what could be considered the best defense in the league. He also has three interceptions on the season. One of which he took back for an impressive pick-six, which notched him as the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for week eight.

As key cornerbacks like Sidney Jones and Ronald Darby get healthy, Mills keeps on shining. Originally, Mills was expected to downgrade to third-string on the depth chart when those two return. But at this point in time, Mills is making them have to earn it.
