Philadelphia Eagles: Wide Receivers are flying under radar
Nelson Agholor
Code-name: Mr. Bounce Back
It’s not a secret that Nelson Agholor had an abysmal 2016 season. The 2015 first-rounder struggled with drops in crucial moments. It led to being benched, then shifted to fans wanting him to be cut from the team or traded.
The off-season proved to be a thrill ride for Agholor. Much of Eagles training camp focused on Agholor’s position battle with Jordan Matthews. It went back and forth until Matthews was traded to the Buffalo Bills for cornerback Ronald Darby, which was the end of the slot receiver controversy.
After getting off the roller-coaster that was the 2017 off-season, Agholor hit the field running – literally. In nine game this season, the speedster has already surpassed the total number of yards and touchdowns from all of last season. His 428 yards and 5 touchdowns place him third on the team in receiving yards and tied for sixth in the league in touchdowns. Agholor has accumulated these stats with 7 fewer receptions than he had in fifteen games from last year. How’s that for “Mr. Bounce Back?”
