Howie Roseman and Joe Douglas

We talk about the great play of Wentz and solid coaching of Doug Pederson a lot over here at ITI. But sometimes we seem to let the front office moves fly under the radar. Now is the perfect time to give some thanks for the guys in the front office who have brought this team together over the hectic offseason. General Manager and President of football operations, Howie Roseman and his vice president, Joe Douglas.

The free agents that these guys have acquired has seemed to help tremendously this year. Alshon Jeffery has been a compliment to Wentz, LeGarrette Blount has brought new life to the backfield and Patrick Robinson and Timmy Jernigan have been outstanding on defense. Speaking of Jernigan, Roseman was smart enough to lock him up for the next four years after his strong start to the season.

The solid player transactions haven’t stopped in free agency, though. During the 2017 NFL Draft, the Eagles have selected some very solid rookies. In fact, four of their rookies currently have very key roles on the team this season. Derek Barnett and Rasul Douglas get plenty of snaps on defense while Corey Clement has been one of the most dangerous red-zone running backs in the NFL. Let’s also not forget about Mack Hollins being a special teams ace, while also catching any ball that comes his way.

Let’s not forget about the mid-season moves that Howie pulled off. The trade of a fourth-round pick for running back Jay Ajayi has been talked about as one of the biggest steals that happened this season. It’s not every day you see a truly talented 24-year old running back get traded for such a cheap price. So far the move has already paid off. In two games, Ajayi has rushed for 168 yards and a touchdown off on 15 carries. Howie deserves a standing ovation for that move.
