After Sunday’s NFC East-clinching win against the Los Angeles Rams, Eagles fans received the worst news possible regarding quarterback, Carson Wentz.

A dark and gloomy cloud hangs over Philadelphia this week. Every Philadelphia Eagles fan had to listen to Doug Pederson announce our worst nightmare. In a season with Super Bowl aspirations, MVP candidate Carson Wentz has torn his ACL and will miss the remainder of this season.

Heart-breaking, devastating, tragic. A punch in the gut. There are not enough words to describe losing such a great player, and a great person in general, to the dreaded injury bug. Especially, during such a special season that Wentz’ and the entire team were having.

Players from around the league shared their thoughts and prayers for the second-year quarterback:

Even Cleveland Cavaliers player Dwyane Wade expressed his feelings on the matter:

Wentz has earned the respect from many of his peers from around the sports world.  His big-play ability and unique style of play will truly be missed.

Division Champs…

Despite losing undoubtedly their most important player, positives still emerged from Sunday for the team. With the 43-35 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, the Eagles are now the champions of the NFC East.

This will be the first time since the 2013 season that the Eagles will be playing postseason football. Their last playoff appearance resulted in a 26-24 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Can you guess who was the quarterback for that old Eagles team? The one who is currently taking over the starting spot as a result of the Wentz injury, Nick Foles.

A familiar face…

Who would’ve imagined that at this point of the season, Nick Foles would be leading us into the playoffs again? The 2017 NFL Season sure has been nothing short of uncanny. That is what makes the sport so great, the unpredictability of it.

Anyway, I’m sure most, if not all, Eagles fans remember that memorable 2013 season. Foles, LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson, Jason Avant, Trent Cole, heck, even Riley Cooper, the list goes on. Also, who can forget everyone’s favorite infamous cornerback duo of Bradley Fletcher and Cary Williams? And when we say infamous, we mean it, as they were popular for all the wrong reasons.

Getting back on track here, we all remember Foles’ 27 touchdowns to 2 interceptions stat line. We all remember the 7 touchdowns he tossed against the Oakland Raiders, tying the single-game record. We all remember the former Pro Bowl MVP. But that’s all in the past now.

Fast forward to 2017, and Foles now has, even more, talent around him and now has the chance of a lifetime, to win it all. Doubters might say that it is an impossible feat, but the team has in no way, shape, or form given up on the season. The troops will rally around any player they put behind center, and Doug Pederson will make sure it stays that way.

The Eagles can officially clinch a first-round bye with a victory over the New York Giants. They also have a chance to clinch home-field advantage throughout the postseason, if the Minnesota Vikings lose this week. Now with all of that being said, the most important thing for fans to do right now, is have faith in Foles and #WinForWentz.
